The second-largest mall in the Hudson Valley region has been forced to close after a reported fire started on its premises.

Galleria at Crystal Run in Middletown, NY, Closed

According to a recent post on the Town of Wallkill Police Department's Facebook page, the Galleria at Crystal Run, located at 1 Galleria Drive in Middletown, NY, will be closed for business until further notice.

The post didn't specify why the mall had to close, but several comments stated that a fire had been reported at the mall and that numerous police and fire departments were on the scene, attending to some sort of emergency.

Why is Galleria at Crystal Run Closed?

One comment stated that the Town of Wallkill informed residents and businesses that the mall is "temporarily closed due to a fire and smoke condition in the mall. The town asked everyone to avoid the area for the next few hours while first responders work at the scene.

The Orange County NY Fire Calls Facebook page stated that all mall employees have been evacuated and that area 911 has received numerous calls reporting a fire at the Dicks Sporting Goods, although that has NOT been confirmed by fire officials.

Another post stated that the fire was "knocked down by the sprinkler system" and that firefighters and police are currently investigating at the scene.
