If you have a dog or cat this is something you might want to take advantage of.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, the Dutchess County SPCA is offering free rabies vaccinations for county residents for one day only. It will happen on July 18th at the Dutchess County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Hyde Park, from 8 a.m. to noon. If you live in other surrounding counties the vaccine shot will cost you $10.

According to the state Health Department, house pets need to be vaccinated by the time they are 4 months old. This includes cats and dogs, if owners don't vaccinate they can be fined up to $200. Pets without updated rabies vaccinations must be destroyed or quarantined if they get into a fight with an animal that might have rabies.
