Starting this Sunday, October 9th, it's National Fire Prevention week. Local fire departments are opening up their doors to inform the community of fire safety.

Kicking things off this weekend, the Rosendale Fire Department in Ulster County will be holding a pancake breakfast. You can enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon all while learning the measure to take for fire safety in your home. You can meet your local fire fighters, tour the firetrucks and also check out their antique 1937 firetruck. Bring the whole family this Sunday morning (8am until 2pm) at the Rosendale Fire Department located at 346 Main Street in Rosendale.

The Vails Gate Fire Department will be opening their doors as well this weekend. If you're in the New Windsor area stop by between 12pm and 4pm for their open house. They will be hosting demonstrations, opening up the fire safety trailer as well as serving refreshments.

With the weather changing, we're all using different sources to warm up on chilly nights. Taking in what our local fire departments teach us about fire prevention is a easy step to take in our families safety.
