
Second Fire in 5 Days Erupts at Hudson River Psychiatric Center
Dutchess County Firefighters Dispatched to Hudson River Psych Center
According to eye witness reports, flames and smoke was seen coming from the Hudson River Psych Center in Poughkeepsie in the early morning hours.
This was the second time in 5 days that a fire blazed through the historic, abandoned, facility in Dutchess County.
The Facebook page Dutchess County Scanner Feed reported that the a call came in from the Fairview Fire District for a "Fully involved 4 story structure fire HRPC property 83 Hudson View Dr."

Fairview Fire District Shares Update on 2nd Psych Center Blaze
Hours after the initial report, the Fairview Fire District shared more details about the 2nd fire at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center.
According to the press release as Fairview Fire District was dispatched to the call around 4:56am. As they arrived on the scene they "encountered an active and well-involved fire that had already consumed multiple floors of the structure."
The Fairview Fire District explained further, writing:
Given the size and scope of the blaze, mutual aid was requested to the scene to assist with aggressive fire suppression efforts and to provide standby coverage for the district.
First responder battled the "heavy flames" by deploying "four elevated master streams and utilized numerous hydrants." Thankfully, the fire was declared under control after an hour and 45 minutes.
No injuries have been reported regarding this incident.
Additionally, the cause of the fire and the origin are "the subject of a joint investigation."
Said investigation is being conducted by the following: Dutchess County Fire Investigation Bureau, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control.

On June 3rd, 2026, a massive fire ripped through the historic administration building. That fire is also currently under investigation.
