Congregation Emanuel at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 5, will commemorate Yom HaShoah Holocaust Remembrance. This is the 80th anniversary year of the start of the European phase of WWII. The commemoration is one of many across the world intended both to honor the victims and act on the promise to "never forget" this 20th-century crime against humanity.

The event will consist of:

· teens leading memorial readings with candlelighting;

· speaker Tibor Spitz, a Holocaust survivor, telling of his life in hiding as a child; and

· Holocaust-themed music prepared by Cantor Bob Cohen, Dr. Martin Miller (viola) and Diana Maidenbaum (voice).

The event is free and open to the community.
