End of Watch: Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff has Passed Away
The Dutchess County Sherriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of its deputies.
Back in October, we shared information regarding a special event scheduled to take place at Barton Orchards in Poughquag, NY, to benefit a Hudson Valley first responder and former military member who was dealing with some serious health issues.
Night for Nick 10-13
Just a few weeks ago family, friends, and the Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff's Police Benevolent Association told us about a "10-13 Night for Nick", a special event that was organized to raise money and celebrate Dutchess County Sherriff Deputy Nick Gasparre. Gasparre, a Dutchess County Sheriff Deputy, Marine, and firefighter was originally diagnosed with brain cancer (astrocytoma grade 3) in 2017 after having a seizure at his home. The sole purpose of the event was to raise funds to help Nick and his family offset the added costs associated with his care.
Dutchess County Sheriff Deputy Passes Away
Sadly, just a few weeks after the successful event we have learned that Nicholas Gasparre has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. According to the Dutchess County Sherriff's Office Facebook page, Nick passed away on Friday. Dutchess County Sheriff Kirk Imperati made the announcement by saying,
"With a heavy heart, Sheriff Kirk Imperati announces the passing of Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff Nicholas Gasparre. On the evening of Friday, November 15, 2024, Deputy Gasparre succumbed to his courageous battle with cancer."
Sheriff Imperati went on to ask the Hudson Valley to keep Nick's family, friends and his colleagues at the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers. The Sherriff didn't mention any viewing or funeral details at the time but did say that "more information may be released at a later time." When that information becomes available we will update this article.

Nick is survived by his daughter Addie and his wife Kellie who along with Nick's aunt Maryanne Giordano posted an update on Nick's GoFundMe page saying,
"It is with a sad and broken heart we give this update, as Nick’s battle with cancer has come to an end. Nick passed away peacefully in his home on November 15th with his beloved wife, Kellie, his parents and myself by his bedside. His many dear friends, family members and brothers and sisters in blue were also at his home with him to share their support and say their goodbyes."
Thank You from Nick's Family
They ended the message by giving thanks to everyone for their support saying,
"There are no words that begin to convey the gratitude for each and everyone of you, friends, family, Barton Orchards, EV Rocks foundation and especially the entire Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office who have given support, time, love and monetary donations to Nick, Kellie and Addie. Nick fought this battle hard because he knew all of you were by his side helping him and his family everyday…. and for that we thank you."
Rest in Peace Nick! You will be missed!
