One of the Hudson Valley's biggest names in powersports has officially been sold.
If you're the type of person who loves the outdoors and enjoys zipping around on anything with a motor you've probably spent some time browsing or shopping at one of the Hudson Valley's biggest names in powersports.
Dutchess Recreational Vehicles in Poughkeepsie, New York
For over five decades the folks at Dutchess Recreational Vehicles, located at 737 Freedom Plains Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY have been serving thousands of Hudson Valley powersport enthusiasts. When they opened back in 1971 Dutchess Rec quickly became one of the leaders in outdoor power equipment. In 1988 Ken Conston bought the Poughkeepsie dealership, which at the time sold Honda powersports and equipment.
In 2000 Ken was joined by his brother Jeff and for the last 24 years Dutchess Rec has been the place that many in the Hudson Valley and surrounding area visit to find the perfect new or used outdoor recreational vehicle.
Dutchess Recreational Vehicles Sold
According to the Power Sports Business website the Conston brothers have officially sold the popular dealership to Jim Batterton. Batterton has extensive senior leadership experience from IBM and Kyndryl, along with specialized knowledge in powersports from his involvement with his family’s pre-owned dealership, Kent Road Motorsports according to the website.
"When the opportunity to acquire Dutchess Recreational Vehicles came up, I was very excited because they have a great reputation and have served the Hudson Valley, New York, and tri-state area for decades," said Batterton.
It's unclear how much the dealership was sold for but the Conston brothers are going to remain involved with the dealership for a "transition period" to ensure a smooth changeover.
