A Dutchess County man was allegedly driving under the influence of drugs when he crashed his car into a pole with 2 others inside the vehicle.

Thursday morning, Dutchess County Sheriff Deputies responded to Route 308 at the intersection of Route 199 in Milan for a report of a serious crash. Police say a 2004 Honda Civic driven by 25-year-old Anthony Stoddard, of Elizaville left the road and hit a light support pole.

Dominic Russo, 25, of Pine Plans, a front seat passenger, was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries. 25-year-old William Amato, 25, of Hudson a rear seat passenger, and Stoddard were transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with minor injuries

Authorities believe fatigue and alleged drug use caused the crash. Stoddard was arrested at the hospital for vehicular assault, a felony, and driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.

Stoddard was released on appearance tickets.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by members of the State Police, Milan Fire Department, Rhinebeck Fire Department, Red Hook Fire Department, and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.

The investigation into the crash is continuing, and more information may be released as it becomes available.
