The New Windsor Police Department along with the New Windsor Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Maybrook Fire Department and other agencies responded to a major two-car collision at the intersection of of Little Britain Road and Forrester Road on Saturday afternoon.

First responders found the operator of one vehicle trapped in his car and fading in and out of consciousness. Upon being extricated, the patient was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with injuries to his face and lower extremities.

The police investigation led to the several felony charges being levied against 51-year-old Christopher Smith of Cambell Hall. Charged with vehicular assault in the first degree, aggravated DWI with a BAC greater than .18% and DWI, Smith was arraigned and sent to the Orange County Jail on a $10,000 cash bail/bond.
