Fans of Darius Rucker and Ed Sheeran got some exciting news on Thursday (March 14): The two superstars have some form of collaboration up their sleeves. In an Instagram post, Rucker shared a couple of snapshots of the two of them hard at work writing in the studio.

Also pictured in the post are producer and engineer Joe Rubel, singer Joel Crouse and Nashville-based guitarist Kyle Rife. Despite the fact that the write took place in London, it seems a fair bit of Music City made it into the room that day. In fact, Sheeran himself has dabbled in country music in the past. Aside from getting his start on tour with Taylor Swift and spending some time living in Nashville, Sheeran co-wrote "The Rest of Our Life," which became a hit for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

In his post, Rucker did share any details about the music that the group was working on, nor did he specify which of the artists in the room would ultimately record it. In addition to his career as a solo country star, Rucker recently announced the reunion of his massively successful '90s pop-rock group, Hootie & the Blowfish, who are gearing up for a summer 2019 tour as well as planning to release new music later in the year. Therefore, it might even be possible that Sheeran and Rucker could be collaborating on music for Hootie & the Blowfish to release.

In the meantime, Sheeran is gearing up to continue the international Divide Tour later in March, while Rucker's performances with Hootie & the Blowfish's 2019 Group Therapy Tour will kick off on May 30, 2019.
