Cuomo: ‘No One is Going to Attack New York’

Gov. Andrew Cuomo had strong words for people who are against New York State.

In recent days, many have attacked New York for being the epicenter for coronavirus in the United States.

On Saturday, President Donald Trump confirmed he was thinking of placing all of New York State in quarantine as the numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases in New York continue to soar. Trump and CDC later issued a travel advisory.

This weekend, police from Rhode Island started stopping cars with New York plates and the National Guard began helping police search houses to find people who traveled from New York and demand a 14-day self-quarantine, Bloomberg reports.

Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo later repealed her executive order against New York. The new order now says “any person coming to Rhode Island from another state for a non-work-related purpose must immediately self-quarantine for 14 days," the New York Post reports.

"We will not let New Yorkers be discriminated against," Cuomo said. "Rhode Island will no longer be stopping New Yorkers at their border. We thank Rhode Island for their cooperation in repealing this executive order."

On Sunday, during his daily coronavirus press conference, Cuomo announced "no on is going to attack New York.

"We are New York. We are going to make it through. We are going to be OK," Cuomo said. "I can't say you won't see people pass away. You will. But New York is going to have what it needs and no one is going to attack New York unfairly and no one is going to deprive New York of what it needs. There is no state better prepared and better mobilized.”
