A popular brand of wipes is being recalled due to the possible presence of a bacterium.

Back in March of 2020, it seemed like everywhere you looked, you couldn't find toilet paper or any kind of bathroom product like wipes. If you stocked-up on and have been stocking up on Cottonelle Wipes your purchases may have been recalled.

According to a press release from Cottonelle, Cottonelle Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle GentlePlus Flushable Wipesold from February 7, 2020 through September 14, 2020 are included in the recall. In the statement Cottonelle explains:

The affected product could show the presence of a bacterium (Pluralibacter gergoviae) which naturally occurs in the environment and in the human body. Pluralibacter gergoviae rarely causes serious infections in healthy individuals. However, individuals with weakened immune systems are at a heightened risk of infection.

Cottonelle has set up a website specifically to check if your Cottonelle product has been affected by the most current recall.

You can visit Cottonelle's website to enter your product number or you can call their helpline at 1-800-414-0165. The helpline is available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 9 pm CT and 8 am to 6 pm CT Saturday and Sunday.

There is no need to return the product if you have any in your home. They say to stop using the product immediately and contact their site or helpline for more information, including a  reimbursement.

If you have a Cottonelle product that was affected by the recall and submit a  reimbursement form you should be receiving said reimbursement between 3 and 6 weeks.
