Coronavirus Confirmed in Putnam, Greene Counties

Putnam and Greene counties joined other counties in the region with confirmed cases of coronavirus. More cases were also announced in Dutchess County.

On Sunday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo confirmed 69 additional cases of novel coronavirus, bringing the statewide total to 729 confirmed cases in New York State.

There are about 230 confirmed cases in the Hudson Valley, most coming from the Lower Hudson Valley, where Cuomo asked all non-essential State employees to stay home and work from home. Cuomo also urged private businesses across New York to close or explore work from home options, during a press conference on Sunday.

Cuomo announced the first confirmed cases of coronavirus in Putnam and Green counties and three more cases in Dutchess County. Putnam and Greene counties both have two confirmed cases, Dutchess County increased to seven.

On Saturday, Hudson Valley Post reported a Marist college student tested positive for COVID-19, joining a member of the Bard College community who recently tested positive. The individual is a member of the Bard College community and had interaction with faculty and students, officials say.

Orange County has six cases of COVID-19, Ulster County five, Rockland County 13 and Westchester County 196.

Of the 729 total individuals who tested positive for the virus, the geographic breakdown is as follows:

• Schenectady County: 2
• Suffolk County: 47 (6 new)
• Tioga County: 1
• Tompkins County: 1
