Cool HV Spots for Hot HV Days
Driving up to Taste of Country Music Festival this past weekend I passed an awful lot of people cooling off in all the streams and creeks along the way. All the recent rain made for some cool running water all along my route. I headed west on Route 28 out of Kingston and then up Route 214 to Hunter. Sunday was the perfect day for what I call creek crawling, walking barefoot up the center of a cool running stream.
It looked like there were some great spots to pull over and cool off so I thought why not make a list. I am sure a lot of us will be out and about this summer and now that the hot weather has arrived we need to think about places to take a break. So here is what I have come up with for you.
The Stony Clove Creek near Devil's Tombstone State Park on Route 214
The Esopus Creek Between Mt Tremper and Phoenicia on Route 28
The Rondout Creek between Accord and High Falls off Lucas Avenue
Peters Kill and Awosting Falls at Minnewaska on Route 44/55 West of New Paltz
