A little hometown pride here.

Growing up in Windham in the Catskills mountains it was always about sports but my home teams were never really that good when I was there. Maybe because I was on the teams. LOL!

The ski team was always good, Soccer was OK, same with baseball. That all changed from OK to great for the Baseball team last night.

Now I haven't been up to Windham in a long time but have been following from a far the success of the Windham Ashland Jewett varsity baseball team.

They, from what I have seen have be good for a few years and last night they won one of the biggest games in the programs history.

The number 3 seeded Warriors made it to the Class D sectionals and defeated number 4 Deposit 5-1 for the Class D title at Damashke Field in Oneonta.

WAJ coach Jim Adair told the Registerstar that “It really was a total team effort on their part. They know the game and there’s not much we’ve had to tweak. Lee and I just try to stay out of their way and trust them to make the right decisions.”

The Windham Warriors now head into the New York State Class D tournament and will enjoy a first-round bye before facing the Section III winner on June 4 at 2 p.m. at Broome County Community College in Binghamton.
