If you have kids or if you grew up a book worm then today probably holds a special place in your heart.

On this day, March 2nd, in 1904 Theodor Seuss Geisel best known as Dr. Seuss was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. Today would have been his 113th birthday. Dr. Seuss was the genius behind great childrens books such as Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in The Hat, Horton Hears a Who  and The Lorax. Here in the Hudson Valley, children and adults alike will be celebrating the magical life of Dr. Seuss.

Hudson Valley News Network is reporting that the United Way of Dutchess - Orange Region will celebrate Dr.Suess' birthday as well as celebrate the 20th anniversary of Read Across America Day. Today at the Mid Hudson Children's Museum in the city of Poughkeepsie there will be readings of The Cat and The Hat at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. There will also be readings in locations like  Newburgh Head Start,  the Boys and Girls Club in Newburgh, Catharine Street Community Center in Poughkeepsie and several other locations.
