Controversy Surrounds Hudson Valley Actress In New Box Office Hit

A Hudson Valley based actress is in the center of what might be the biggest Hollywood controversy this summer.

It's been a great summer at the movies! We were lucky to get movies like Inside Out 2, Twisters and Deadpool & Wolverine in one action packed summer.

The latest blockbuster summer hit is It Ends With Us based on the book by author Colleen Hoover. It Ends with Us stars Bedford, New York resident Blake Lively as the main character Lily Bloom.

Actor Justin Baldoni (Jane The Virgin) costars along Lively as Ryle Kincaid. Baldoni also directed the film. Fans of the book swarmed theaters to see the story come to life on the big screen.

It Ends With Us debuted at the box office at the #2 spot making $50 million in it's opening weekend. Ironically, Lively's husband, Ryan Reynolds, is in the #1 spot with Deadpool & Wolverine.

However, drama behind the scenes with the It Ends With Us Cast is now splashed all over the headlines.

What Is Going on With The It Ends With Us Cast?

At the premier for It Ends With Us, fans noticed a shift on the red carpet. Justin Baldoni appeared by himself on the carpet posing with just his family and friends. The rest of the cast including Lively, Hoover, Jenny Slate, Brandon Sklener and others were all posing together.

Fans also noticed that everyone in the cast unfollowed Baldoni on social media. That's the biggest dig in 2024 apparently.

TMZ now reports that the drama began when Baldoni asked a trainer how much Lively weighed. There was a scene that required the actor to pick up Lively and he allegedly has back problems and was trying to train properly. Lively, according to the report, believe Baldoni was "fat shaming" her.

 What's The Real Message Behind It Ends With Us?

If you read the Colleen Hoover novel, you would understand that this isn't just some run of the mill romantic drama. There are deeper issues covered behind the pages of the floral cover of the book.

Without giving any spoilers, domestic violence is a major theme in the novel between the two main characters Lily Bloom and Ryle Kincaid.

Many believe that Justin Baldoni was pushing to make sure the film brought awareness to domestic violence and abuse, while Blake Lively was approaching the movie more like a romantic comedy.

You can clearly hear the "creative differences" between the 2 actors in any interview they have done over the last week or so.
