New Bakery Opens in Kingston, New York

In May of 2024, word start to get around that a new bakery was opening up in Kingston. Pinkerton's was to take over the old Cake Box location on 8 Fair Street.

As 2024 rolled on, we saw Pinkerton's post about hiring bakers and other team members as well as sharing mouthwatering photos like all these pies!

That photo alone had the neighborhood buzzing. By January of 2025 Pinkerton's was officially opened for business.

As we did more research on Pinkerton's we have learned that the pastry chef behind the new location is rather distinguished.

Award Winning Pastry Chef Opens Pinkerton's in Kingston

With so many great bakeries in the Hudson Valley it's hard to keep up with all the talent behind the scenes. We recently learned that owner and operator of Pinkertons, Angela Pinkerton, is a James Beard Award winning pastry chef. Pinkerton won her James Bear Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef back in 2011 when she was working at Eleven Madison Park in New York City. Clearly, Pinkerton's is in good hands.

What is The James Beard Award?

Obviously, winning any type of award is an honor and important to your craft. But the James Beard Award is prestigious. Some call it The Oscars of the food world.

In the category that Pinkerton won, for Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker the James Beard Foundation recognizes "exceptional talent in the culinary world, specifically celebrating pastry chefs and bakers who demonstrate consistent excellence in their craft, whether they are affiliated with a brick-and-mortar establishment or not."

Pinkerton's is opened Thursday and Friday from 7:30 am until 4 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 am until 2 pm. According to their Instagram and website, they will be opening on Wednesday's soon too.
