55 years ago a 20-year old Dutchess County woman finished up her shift at the Poughkeepsie Howard Johnson's and was never heard from again.

Alice Vrablic Goes Missing in Wappingers Falls, NY

The Facebook group "Hudson Valley Cold Cases And Missing People" details the story of Alice Vrablic who on the night of August 22, 1970, wrapped up her waitress shift at the Howard Johnson restaurant on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie.

After work, she allegedly got a ride with 2 coworkers. Alice was originally dropped off at work by her father, and had brought a change of clothes. It's reported that she changed out of her uniform before she left work for the night.

Dutchess County Government explains the events that reportedly happened the night that Vrablic went missing. They write Vrablic "left work and was given a ride to the intersection of New Hackensack Road and Route 9 in the Village of Wappingers Falls."

They add "after which she never returned home."

Reports state that her family knew she had plans to meet "a friend at one of the local diners" located near the intersection. However, they don't know what friend she was meeting.

In a case break down on Hudson Valley Cold Cases And Missing People they write that Alice was last seen alive "walking away from her coworkers car."

After Alice didn't return home, Alice mother reported her missing.

Missing Dutchess County Woman Found

10 days after Vrablic went missing, a gruesome discovery was made.

According to reports a young boy was walking in the area of New Hackensack road in Wappingers Falls when he came across a bag with Vrablic's folded up Howard Johnson's uniform.

The boy then went to tell his mother what he found. The 2 of them returned and later found Vrablic's body.

55 Years and No Answers, What Happened to Alice Vrablic?

August 20th, 2025 marked the 55th anniversary of Alice Vrablic case.

Sadly, no arrests have been made. At last check the Dutchess County Sherriff's Detectives are still actively investigating Alice's death.
