Alcohol at Your Local Movie Theater?
Nothing would make me happier than sitting down and enjoying the new live version of Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson while enjoying a nice bottle glass of wine. However, at most theaters right now that's frowned upon.
According to Newsday, New York legislators will begin another to debate whether movie theaters can server alcohol. Patrons who would be seeing movies with the PG-13, R, and NC-17 rating would be, with proper identification, able to purchase alcohol while they enjoy their film. Apparently Governor Andrew Cuomo had brought the topic up previously but legislation fell through due to state budget negotiations.
In the last few years we've seen some movie theaters (none in the Hudson Valley) start serving alcohol during screenings. However, these theaters are attached to specialty restaurants making it okay for the alcohol to be served. I'm not sure where the closest theater is, but I have friends who have visited the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers and have nothing but great things to say.
Would you like to see local Hudson Valley movie theaters start selling alcohol?
