When is the last time you had an eye exam?

If you can't remember the last time or if it's been a while and you are not sure where to go, we invite you to check out our friends at Adult and Pediatric Eye Care in Middletown for your next eye exam.

With two great doctors available to serve you, Dr. Gary J. Lake, whos been working with patients in the Hudson Valley for 33 years, and Dr. Debbie Ocampo, the folks at Adult and Pediatric Eye Care would love to make eye care easy for everyone and after speaking to both doctors they have a lot to offer anyone looking for quality eye care.

They offer numerous services and if you're like me and haven't been in a while it's best to start with a comprehensive eye exam where your doctor will evaluate your eyes and if needed will evaluate you for a glasses prescription. During the exam, they will also assess your ocular health for conditions like diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and more.

How Often Should We Get an Eye Exam?

Dr. Ocampo told us that it is recommended that everyone get their eyes checked yearly or at least once every two years even if you don't currently need glasses or contacts. She told us that in a lot of cases your eyes can show the first indications of diabetes, high blood pressure, and numerous other things.

Do Children Need Eye Exams?

Dr. Lake told us its very important for children to have their eyes examined yearly because "80% of childhood learning comes from visual cues and the screening that most schools conduct don't pick up on the issues that some children have and that can lead to issues when it comes to learning." He also mentioned with all the screen time kids have today lots of children are becoming nearsighted and at Adult and Pediatric Eye Care they are using some new techniques to stop that from happening.

Adult and Pediatric Eye Care offers some other great services including, contact lens fittings, myopia control, evaluations for eligibility for LASIK, PRK, and other forms of refractive surgery. Dr. Lake is also a board-certified low vision specialist and can help anyone who has lost vision due to diabetes or glaucoma. ]

Dr. Ocampo also told us that they specialize in emergency visits as well, so if you notice a change in vision, red eye, are experiencing eye pain, they can help. Dr. Ocampo is also bilingual for any Spanish-speaking patients.
