7 Hudson Valley Sites That Kinda Look Like Disney World

We found seven incredible locations in the Hudson Valley that (kinda) look just like Walt Disney World (maybe).

The Doll House in Kingston
This rundown old building on Route 28 in Kingston has been vacant since the 90s. The Doll House is in terrible disrepair, but it's architecture is something you'd expect to see strolling around Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom. The only difference here is that the mice probably aren't as friendly (or clean) as Mickey.

The Poughkeepsie Gas Ball
We're not exactly sure what this thing is, but who needs Epcot Center when Poughkeepsie has it's own metallic sphere? Located on Water Street this giant ball is supposedly full of some sort of fuel. At night some say they can see gas flames leaping out of the top, just like Epcot's nightly Illuminations fireworks show!

Burny The Bear
Who needs the Country Bear Jamboree when we have Burny in Wappingers Falls? Outside The Fireplace Shop on Old Route 9 sits an enormous chainsaw bear sculpted out of a dead tree. It may not sing and dance, but it makes a great photo op. Bonus: There's a delicious hot dog truck that's sometimes parked right across the street.

The Haunted Mansion
OK, so we don't know if this house in Rhinebeck is really haunted with 999 ghosts, but it looks really cool. This old Victorian home on Livingston Street is just one of many old homes in the village that resemble Disney World's iconic Haunted Mansion.

Historic Huguenot Street
These old stone houses in New Paltz are something right out of an old animated Disney movie. Keep your eyes out for someone named Pinocchio. He might be the puppet who turned into a real boy, or he could just be that hacky sack player who got lost on his way home from the bars on Main Street last Friday night. Either way, stay away from his nose.

Kingston's Stockade District
Visitors to Disney World pay a premium to stay at the Port Orleans Resort, a hotel themed after the French Quarter. In Kingston the Stockade District has almost the same look and feel, with covered storefronts and antebellum era streetlights.

Sheafe Road
Who needs the Kilimanjaro Safari ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom when we have Sheafe Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie? This quite road that parallels Route 9 behind the Poughkeepsie Galleria is usually filled with some impressive wildlife. Head South from the Mall and drive slowly as you keep your eyes open for wild turkeys, deer, foxes, bunnies and even the occasional coyote. If you follow the road all the way to Bowdoin Park you may even see an actual bald eagle.

While the Hudson Valley has some pretty cool sights, we'll admit that some things just aren't a substitute for the actual Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
