Music Matters to the Sleepy Man Banjo Boys

When I was in the fifth grade I had a teacher that took the time to teach everyone in the class how to play guitar. Later on in school I wanted to learn to play more musical instruments. At first I was thinking piano, but my parents informed me that the house wasn't big enough. I think that was their way of saying "Oh no she won't put us through that noise". My parents were wonderful people but I was really tone deaf and me banging out a tune on a piano as I sang along might have been tough on everyone.

So when I was "old" enough my parents agreed to get me an acoustic guitar and lessons out of the house. I loved every minute and my instructor was a very patient nun. The whole reason I was able to take lessons was because the local music store had a rent to own program which made it affordable for me to have a guitar in the first place.

Many children get left out of music programs because of the cost of the musical instrument. That is why Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley is proud to support Music Matters.
