I am a music fan first and foremost and I am grateful that music is such a big part of my working life. I also have a very eclectic personal music collection of artists, albums, and songs.

I love discovering new artists, new-to-me artists, historical recordings, amazing covers, powerful tributes, you name it, I will listen to it. So with all of this in mind, I thought I’d share some of my music with you in hopes that you will share some of your music with me. You never know what we’ll discover together on Tunesday Tuesday.

This week, with Memorial Day weekend almost here, I have found myself listening to, and looking for, songs that I have known and loved about those who have served our country. My grandfather was in WWII, my Uncle was in Vietnam, my cousin was in the Navy, and my brother served in the Army as well. I think of them and their service often, but especially on weekends like this.

With that in my mind, here's this week's Tunesday Tuesday.

David Ball released 'Riding With Private Malone' in 2001. It went to #2 on the Billboard country charts and it still gives me chills every time I hear it.

Billy Ray Cyrus released his debut album, 'Some Gave All' in 1992. While the title track wasn't a hit then, it remains a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by so many.

Dixie Chicks released 'Traveling Soldier' in 2002. It had been recorded before by other artists, but no one did it they way they could. It's a beautifully haunting melody and make me cry every time.

When Trace Adkins performed 'Til the Last Shot's Fired' with the West Point Glee Club on the CMAs in 2009, I couldn't stop crying. I think it's one of the most powerful performances.

Back in 2012, Lee Brice was a relative newcomer to country music, so I didn't know what to expect when he released 'I Drive Your Truck'. It's been on my ITunes account ever since.

This certainly isn't every song about the men and women who sacrificed so much for our country, these are just the ones I listen to over and over. What are your favorite songs about our men and women in uniform? I hope you'll share yours with me, I love hearing new music or re-discovering a song I may have forgotten about.

On this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, thank you to all of the men and women who sacrificed so much to keep us free. It is a debt that can never be repaid.
