Many places around the Hudson Valley will be celebrating Earth Day. It is so great that we live in a place like the Hudson Valley where we can take advantage of all that surrounds us in our vast outdoors.

One of my favorite places to recommend to learn more about our Hudson Valley environment is the Trailside Museums and Zoo at Bear Mountain State Park. If you haven't had the chance to visit yet you must stick it on your summer visit list.

What is at the Trailside Museums and Zoo at Bear Mountain State Park

This easily accessible place for all ages is full of Hudson Valley wildlife experiences. They have many animals that you would find in the wild in New York living and being cared for at the zoo.

Bears, Owls, a Bobcat, and more all call the Bear Mountain Zoo home year-round.

In the winter the Zoo is open but many of the animals are in their winter settings. it isn't until the weather warms up that they get to spend time in their outdoor habitats. This weekend the Zoo is celebrating Earth Day and in preparation for that the resident beaver who is known as Beave was brought back to the zoo. Big Beave arrived today back from a winter vacation.

Big Beave won't be the only animal happy to see warm-weather patrons return to the Zoo. Alfredo the Virginia Opossum has been waiting all winter to entertain visitors to the Trailside Museum.
