What Happened When Sensational Hudson Valley Chef Competed On Chopped

You would think after all of the holiday cooking the last thing anyone would want to do is watch a cooking show but that is exactly what many did Monday night who live in the Hudson Valley.  We may have been all cooked out but we still had to see a local chef take on the Chopped Kitchen.

Late last week Glenmere Farm started promoting that their very own Chef, Ciaran McGoldrick was going to be competing on Tuesday night's episode of Chopped on the Food Network. Dubbed "Uni Versed?" this episode had the competing chefs working with a sea urchin cocktail in round one, canned soup in round two, and a hot candy for the dessert round.

If you missed Ciaran cooking his way to the final round on Chopped you missed some interesting cooking. None of the baskets had any easy ingredients. The Appetizer basket was so hard on one of the chefs competing got confused and almost forgot to use most of the basket in his dish.

Not Ciaran though, he quickly put together a tasty bite for round one and then duplicated his success in round two. The judges loved his carrot sauce which is what may have saved him and resulted in him getting to the final round making dessert.

Hudson Valley Chef Cooks His Way to The Top on Chopped

If you have never watched the show the concept is that there are three rounds, appetizer, entree, and then dessert. The chefs have to make something out of mystery ingredients in a basket. All the ingredients must be used in the dish they create.

Ciaran successfully made it through two rounds and when he got to round three the dessert, he made a decision his Mom asked him not to. She had said don't make ice cream but he did and it paid off. Ciaran walked away with the win and $10,000. During the show, Ciaran told the judges he had watched the show since he was a child so it is fantastic that he was able to walk away as the Chopped Champion for this episode.

Now Glenmere Farm in Warwick, New York which is where Ciaran lives with his mom and cooks for the farm-to-table events they hold on the grounds, can proudly boost a Chopped Champion.
