Now That Hess is Chevron What Happens to the Legendary Hess Truck?

Could this be the end of one of the most popular toy trucks?

About 10 years ago the Hudson Valley and most of New York underwent a huge change when the Hess gas company sold most of their locations to Speedway LLC. Does anyone remember seeing the old green and white Hess signs come down and the new red and white Speedway signs go up?

Once the sign changes were complete it changed the way many Hudson Valley roads looked, right? I know that it took friends of mine years to start calling them Speedways instead of Hess...LOL! When the change was announced I can also remember wondering if the sale would affect the popular holiday toy truck that was made famous by Hess.

Hess Toy Truck Leaves Gas Stations

Once the sale was announced, Hess said that the Hess Truck would no longer be available for purchase at gas stations that don't have the Hess name, but it would be available for fans online exclusively. The change made it harder for some fans to grab the truck every year but over time we all adjusted, right? Could the Hess truck be coming back to stores?

Hess Sold Again?

According to numerous sources, the Hess Corporation has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Chevron and some of the same questions have begun circulating online about the future of the Hess Truck.

Will the Hess Sale Affect the Hess Truck?

Thankfully the folks at Hess have announced that the new agreement will NOT affect the 2023 Hess Truck,

"Earlier this morning Hess Corporation announced an agreement to be acquired by Chevron. We want to reassure all of you, our loyal fans, that the Hess Toy Truck, a long-standing and cherished tradition, will continue for future years!"

The 2023 Hess Police Truck and Cruiser is out now and features a "highly specialized law enforcement response team that will inspire and unleash the inner hero in everyone!" As Hess has done in years past this year's truck is two toys in one celebrating law enforcement and is available online now for $42.99 according to their Facebook page.

Hess also shared that they are preparing to celebrate the Hess Toy Truck’s 60th anniversary in 2024 with details coming soon. Personally, I can't wait to see what the anniversary truck or trucks will look like. Here is what some of the Hess trucks looked like from years past...
