How to Navigate Kingston Road Construction this Spring

There's no doubt that it is road work season in the Hudson Valley. Just about every road you head down this time of year has some type of work being done.

The wet winters with the rain and then freezing temperatures can wreak havoc on our roads. Potholes form over the winter and it is this time of year you will run into road crews patching them up. Plus there are so many other projects that have to be squeezed in as soon as the warmer weather hits.

City of Kingston Releases Road Construction Schedule

Some towns have big projects going which take time. Take the City of Kingston for instance they have been working on the Connelly Bridge for quite a while plus they are repairing sidewalks and making them more user-friendly.

There are actually so many projects underway that the City of Kingston posted a schedule on social media so that people could plan to steer clear of the work.

According to what they have shared along with some ongoing projects there are some other smaller but important repairs going on.

One of those is the curbs going in on part of Henry Street until April 22nd.

Henry Street Safe Routes to School project – crews will continue to install curbs, ramps, and sidewalks at the Prospect Street intersection and at the Sterling Street and Cedar Street intersection. Milling and paving for the remainder of Henry Street is tentatively scheduled for the week of April 22. (via Facebook)

One of the biggest projects has been rehabbing the Wurts Street Bridge. The bridge is still under construction for repairs. The south tower repairs continue. Plus steel repairs and Bridge Rail installation, along with caulking and painting are all being done.

One city-wide project includes putting in ADA ramps throughout Kingston should conclude this week. The last step in that project will then be the final restoration of Main Street which will start shortly.
