Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you that I love to sew. I may not be the best, but I put my own spin on a project and just have fun. As with anyone else who has a hobby or is passionate about something, I am always looking for ways to use my talents to be able to help out an organization or families. I saw this and I thought this was perfect. Even if you aren't the most experienced sewer, making a pillowcase is a great beginners' project, and you can help someone by the simple act of making something just for them.

This challenge asks that you make pillow cases and donate them to a local charity and organization and then go to American Patchwork & Quilting and enter the number of pillowcases you donated. They even help with a list of organizations that could benefit from such a donation, Department of Social Services, for children in foster care; Nursing Homes, Oncology Units, Runaway Shelters, Red Cross, Victims of fires or floods, and the list goes on.

If you want to join me in this challenge, but aren't sure how to get started, here's a great tutorial my Mom showed me. It makes making pillow cases so fast and easy, you just might make some for everyone on your gift list this year!

I hope that you think about joining me in this challenge and send me your pictures of your pillowcases. I want to share all of your hard work and generosity! Email your pics to beth@hudsonvalleycountry.com
