This time of year, no matter where you turn there are holiday things going on. From Santa's arrival to good people trying to the right thing and helping out the less fortunate.

We are getting ready to kick off our yearly toy drive, The CJ and Jess Wolf Holiday Express next week, where we ask everyone in the Hudson Valley to make a donation of a new unwrapped toy to benefit the Salvation Army, right here in the Hudson Valley.

That starts next week, so this week I would like to ask you to do me a favor if you can. Could you buy a Christmas wreath to help decorate some New York Veterans graves?

The organization is called Wreaths Across America and according to CBS 6 News, every year they decorate thousands of veterans graves at cemeteries, like one in Albany, the Saratoga National Cemetery with wreaths as part of the Wreaths Across America program.

As the holidays get closer some of the volunteers have announced that they need a bunch more support to make it happen this year. One volunteer, Cyndi Owen told CBS 6 that “We are only up to about 3,600 wreaths at the moment, out of the 13,000. So we still have a long ways to go!” She also said that for the past two years they covered every veteran’s grave at Saratoga National Cemetery, 11,000 graves in 2017, and 12,000 graves in 2018.

She said the mission is “Remember, Honor, Teach” and the goal is to make sure no veteran is forgotten this holiday season.

The suggested donation is $15 (the cost of a wreath) and if you would like to make a donation go to PGRNY.ORG and use the code: NY0057 and the location: NYNSGS.

The donations must be collected by the end of November and The Patriot Guard Riders, who are also part of the fundraiser have said that for every two wreaths sponsored, they’ll add a third.
