New York lawmakers approved a plan Wednesday to fix the spelling on a bridge that has been misspelled for more than 50 years. The Verrazano Bridge is named after a European explorer by the name of Giovanni da Verrazzano. Notice the two 'Z's' in his name? Well someone forgot to put the extra Z on all the signs.

ABC7 reports the bill passed the Senate 61-0 so now it goes on to the Assembly where it must get enough votes before heading off to Governor Cuomo's office.

Verrazzano was reportedly the first European to sail into New York Harbor. The state of Rhode Island also honored him by naming a bridge after him, but they managed to get the spelling right. The Verrazano Bridge connects the boroughs of Brooklyn with Staten Island and is a double-decker

What do you think, should all the signs be fixed to add an extra 'z'? The endeavor could get expensive, potentially costing taxpayers millions of dollars.
