Memorial Day weekend is here. Hopefully you have a long holiday weekend so that you can spend time with family and friends and to explore some of the many events going on this weekend in the Hudson Valley.

 

Friday, May 22-Monday, May 25: Memorial Day Weekend USO Show, WWII Encampment & Memorial Service at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library & Museum and the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site.

Friday: The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library & Museum presents its 12th annual USO Show. Patterned after WWII-era shows put on to entertain US troops serving around the globe, enjoy live Big Band music from the 1930s & '40s, comedy, juggling, historic newsreels and more. There's a $5/person suggested donation with seating first-come, first-served.

Saturday-Sunday: See historic military displays and a WWII encampment on the Library's front lawn with dozens of re-enactors in battle dress on hand to share their love of history with military enthusiasts, families, teachers and students. Collections of military uniforms, prop weapons and insignia from 1917 to the present are displayed. Customized dog tags available for purchase, and period military vehicles are on display. Free admission.

Monday: The National Park Service will host a graveside memorial service at 1:30 pm in the Rose Garden at the Home of FDR National Historic Site with a guest speaker. Free admission.

Sunday, May 24: Yard Sale-O-Rama throughout Liberty. Come and shop at yard sales held throughout Liberty.  You can pick up your map at many locations including:  Liberty Town Hall, Liberty Village Hall, Hillside Greenhouse, Catskill Hudson Bank (Liberty), Liberty Diner and Barbanti Realty.

Friday, May 22-Monday, May 25: A Frost Valley YMCA Memorial Day Weekend. The perfect place to welcome the warmer months with outdoor activities for the whole family. Programs include climbing, hiking, archery, canoeing, ziplining, and challenge courses. Spend the weekend relaxing with natural facials, stretch and meditation classes, and stargazing at the observatory. Enjoy their 2nd annual Family Field Day.

 

Saturday, May 23: Sugar Loaf Spring Festival. Annual Spring celebration featuring art, crafts, food, fun and music. The music line-up this year include the following artists: Sat. May 23: Gene and Peter, Clique, Evan and the Hoodlums, and The Coteries. Sun. May 24: Darrell Hankins, Olivia Zinn, Keith Newman,and Lovesick Homeboys. Mon. May 25 Robert Schiff, Samuel Haiman Band, Big Time Tomato, and Mr. Bighead. Held rain or shine.
