If the thought of having fresh eggs, fresh chicken, or just adding a little fun to your neighborhood sounds like a good idea, then maybe raising chickens is for you. It's not quite as simple as just getting a few chickens, some feed, and then letting them loose in your yard, there's a little more to it than that and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County is here to help you.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County will be offering a class on Tuesday, March 29 from 6-8 pm. The instructor will be CCE Livestock Educator, Jason Detzel, who has a great deal of experience with both laying hens and meat breeds of chickens.

You'll learn about feeding, housing, health management, and which predators to be aware of. The fee for the class is $20 per person with children 12 and under free. Pre-registration is best, but walk-ins will be welcome if there's space.
