The faulty Takata airbags are at it again.

Volkswagen has recalled roughly 71,000 vehicles due to faulty airbag inflators. According to Cnet, Volkswagen recalled 71,335 of the 2006-2007 Passat. These cars were already recalled as part of the first Takata airbag inflator recall, but a second recall has been put out because not everyone had their airbags repaired or replaced.

According to the article, Volkswagen put out the second recall because they have also made a change in the replacement part. Instead of using parts that were similar to the originally recalled Takata parts, they are using an entirely new type of inflator.

Volkswagen is marking all the new airbag inflators as final, not as replacements. Previously, some automakers have had to mark inflators as replacements due to shortages of parts when the original recall broke, according to Cnet.

There's no way to tell if the airbag inflator in a recalled vehicle has already failed, according to Cnet. Cnet says it's best to not drive your recalled car until it's fixed.
