Two Dogs Rescued From Frigid Temperatures in the Hudson Valley

The dogs were discovered when police were attempting to serve a felony warrant. 

Back on Dec. 28, 2017 two dogs were rescued from an abusive situation, as temperatures hovered around 15 degrees.

Members of the County Sheriff’s Office went to a home in the Town of Wallkill, NY to serve a felony warrant to someone at the home, but instead found two emaciated dogs in metal fenced pens.

The dogs were without water, food or anything adequate to provide protection from the bitter cold.

Through an investigation a few days after the dogs were rescued, Wade J. Hynes, age 39, of the Town of Wallkill, was found in Sullivan County. State Police took Hynes into custody.

Hynes was charged with two counts of cruelty to animals, a class A misdemeanor, and two counts of failing to provide for an animal. Hynes pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in late February.

The dogs were sent to Pets Alive in Middletown, N.Y. where they are covering from their abuse. The dogs will be available for adoption once they are fully recovered.
