Hudson Valley Ranks Among Nation's Most Expensive Areas

The Hudson Valley has a lot to offer when it comes to scenery, history, and things to do. But the area once again ranks as one of the most expensive places to raise family in the United States.

Once again the the folks from the nonprofit group Economic Policy Institute have compiled data from 618 metro areas and calculated the cost of living for a two-parent, two-child family based on the costs of housing, child care, food, transportation, health care and other necessities and taxes.

Just like last year's study, the Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown metro area, as well as Westchester County, New York City, Nassau-Suffolk, Ithaca, and Danbury, Connecticut all made the top ten most expensive.

Washington D.C. once again finished as the number one most expensive.
