Sneak Peek: Revolutionary Ride Coming to LEGOLAND New York
LEGOLAND New York will feature a brand new ride that will transforms guests into LEGO characters before their eyes.
The world's largest LEGOLAND resort is coming to Goshen, and we are now getting some details about the attractions and rides that will be awaiting visitors on opening day. One of those rides is the interactive LEGO Factory Adventure.
This revolutionary ride is the world's first attraction that features on-ride tracking technology. On the LEGO Factory Adventure, guests will take a journey through the LEGO factory. Halfway through the journey, the ride vehicles will spin around to face an interactive computer screen where riders will come face to face with themselves. That's when the magic begins.
Thanks to some innovative technology, guests will see themselves transform into LEGO Minifigures. These figures will not be randomly selected but will have the same attributes as the riders. In less than a second, advanced computer vision and tracking technologies will be able to recognize specific features of the riders and create a customized Minifigure that mimics their appearance. Motion tracking will also allow the figures on the screen to mimic the movements of the guests.
This is the first time technology like this has been used on an amusement park ride. Merlin Entertainment's Julie Estrada says the breathtaking effect was accomplished through the hard work and collaboration of two technology companies.
Imagine traveling through a LEGO Factory and suddenly seeing yourself as a LEGO Minifigure! With vision in hand, we looked to two of the world’s leading developers, Holovis and ETF Ride Systems, to create this first of its kind dark ride experience. I can’t wait to see the looks on our guests’ faces when they experience it.
The LEGO Factory Adventure is just one of 50 rides, shows and attractions that will be available at LEGOLAND New York when it opens on July 4.
