Senator-elect James Skoufis has announced that he is pushing for a Metro-North train station at the Woodbury Commons.

Mid Hudson News reports that Senator-elect James Skoufis is calling on the village of Woodbury to include a Metro-North train station at the Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets. In a letter to the Village of Woodbury's planning board, he asked the board to consider adding a Metro-North station at the Commons as the board reviews the proposed expansion.

Skoufis claims that the Metro-North train station at the Woodbury commons would remove tens or hundreds of thousands of vehicles from traffic in the area, according to Mid Hudson News. The Woodbury Commons has 13 million annual visitors.

Skoufis also objected to the proposed helicopter pad that the Woodbury Commons is seeking to add in its expansion. Mid Hudson News reports that Skoufis says the pad should be available for medical use only, not personal use.

According to Mid Hudson News, the closest Metro-North train station is in Harriman, which is roughly one mile away from the Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets.
