A popular Hudson Valley bar has been shut down by police while other local businesses are accused of selling alcohol to minors.

On Friday, after receiving multiple complaints about several Newburgh establishments licensed to sell alcohol by the New York State Liquor Authority, the City of Newburgh Police, investigators with the New York State Liquor Authority and City of Newburgh Code Compliance Officers conducted a joint operation.

The agencies have been receiving complaints ranging from illegal alcohol sales to minors, to noise complaints, nuisance complaints and maintaining and unruly premise, police say.

According to the City of Newburgh police department, the following businesses sold alcohol to a minor:

  • Mar De Copas: 102 Liberty Street / 92 Washington Street
  • Oasis Bar/Nightclub: 203 Broadway
  • La Botella: 136 Lake Street
  • L & C Delia and Grocery: 362 Liberty Street

A worker at each establishment was charged with unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of alcohol.

Additionally, The Oasis Sports Bar entire building was condemned by Code  Enforcement Officers and evacuated by police officers due to severe health and safety hazards, police say.

According to the bar's Facebook pages the business is "permanently closed."
