Police: Hudson Valley Man Planned to Blow Himself Up On Election Day
Developing:
Investigators are saying they searched the home of a lower Hudson Valley man Wednesday who allegedly claimed that he would blow himself up with a bomb either on or around Election Day.
NBC NY says that authorities were concerned the man was acquiring bomb parts to detonate himself on the Washington Mall in Washington D.C.
The apparent reason? NBC says that the man, identified as Paul Rosenfeld from Orangetown, was distraught over the direction of the United States. NBC says Rosenfeld has no criminal record and no known affiliation to any sort of terrorist network.
NBC also says that Rosenfeld planned to somehow detonate only himself, but had no plans to hurt anyone else around him.
Rosenfeld is expected to appear in White Plains Court on federal charges.
