Look, I’m no stranger to college acapella groups. When I was an undergraduate, a ragtag group of choir kids — myself most definitely included  —  organized the first men’s acapella group in the modern history of the university, and a quick Google search shows that the group is still alive and well to this day (no, I won’t tell you the name of the university or the name of the ensemble, so don’t bother asking). So am I pretty much as cool and influential as the Bellas in the Pitch Perfect movie series? Why, yes. I’d like to think so, yes.

Unfortunately for any acapella group  —  those not named Pentatonix, anyways  —  all good things must come to an end, and the first trailer for Pitch Perfect 3 shows our ragtag group of college graduates struggling to transition into the adult world. We’ve seen countless movies where someone decides to get the band back together for one last blowout concert, and while the Bellas are clearly out of their league when it comes to the other bands on the USO tour, does anything think that there won’t be a happy ending for our heroines? These are meant to be fun and light-hearted movies that feature some of the tightest harmonies in the business today. Something tells me Pitch Perfect 3 will deliver in spades.

Here’s the full plot synopsis for Pitch Perfect 3:

Now graduated from college and out in the real world where it takes more than a cappella to get by, the Bellas return in Pitch Perfect 3, the next chapter in the beloved series that has taken in more than $400 million at the global box office. After the highs of winning the World Championships, the Bellas find themselves split apart and discovering there aren’t job prospects for making music with your mouth. But when they get the chance to reunite for an overseas USO tour, this group of awesome nerds will come together to make some music, and some questionable decisions, one last time.

The film’s all-star cast will include Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Elizabeth Banks, Ruby Rose, John Michael Higgins, and John Lithgow. The film will hit theaters on December 22, 2017.
