Nissan Issues Major Recall Due To Fire Danger

In a statement issued on Friday, November 15, 2019, Nissan has recalled more than 450,000 vehicles, citing a break fluid leak could cause them to catch fire.  Nissan stated that electrical shorts and fires may be caused by an antilock break actuator pump leak.

According to ABC News, Nissan is urging drivers to park their impacted vehicles outside and away from other vehicles or structures until the vehicle has been inspected and repaired by a Nissan Dealership.  More information about the repair timeline and process for parts can be found by clicking here.

ABC News reports:

The recall, detailed in documents posted Friday by the U.S. government, covers the Nissan Murano SUV from 2015 through 2018, and Maxima sedans from 2016 through 2018. Also included are Infiniti QX60 and Nissan Pathfinder SUVs from 2017 through 2019. Most are in the U.S. and Canada.

 

Documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration didn’t say if there had been any fires or injuries in vehicles covered by the latest recall.

According to information posted on Nissan's website regarding the recall,

If the ABS warning lamp in your vehicle (shown below) illuminates continually for more than ten (10) seconds after engine start,  please stop driving your vehicle immediately and call Nissan Roadside Assistance at 1-800-225-2476 to arrange towing your vehicle to a Nissan dealer at no cost to you.
