There have been a lot of high profile restaurant closings, so how about some good news for a change?

This month we've already seen the closing of the last Carl's Jr. restaurant in the Hudson Valley and a beloved Perkins location. With the news flooded with stores and restaurants going out of business, it's easy to forget that great things are happening all around us.

A new Salsa Fresca opened on Route 55 in Lagrange. The Chipotle-like quick service restaurant sells burritos and other Mexican food. Another location is rumored to be opening soon in Poughkeepsie, near Marist College.

The Wappingers Falls area will also have two new businesses this month, as a restaurant and a new bakery both open their doors.

Last Saturday Wappingers Town Supervisor, Richard Thurston, cut the ribbon during the grand opening of Manila Grill, a new Asian fusion and Italian restaurant in the Southside Plaza on Route 9.

Nearby in the Village of Wappingers, Sweet Bakes Cafe has had their opening onJune 23. Serving "wacky waffles" and other delectable baked goods, the cafe will be located on West Main Street.
