Missing American Scientist From Lower Hudson Valley Found Dead
Foul play is suspected after a missing American scientist from the Hudson Valley was found dead in Greece.
Suzanne Eaton, 59, who grew up in Westchester, went missing last week in northwest Crete, where she was attending a conference at the Orthodox Academy of Crete.
It was believed Eaton, who is an active runner, went for a run prior to going missing. Her running shoes were missing from her room but most of her belongings remained in her room.
On Monday, Eaton was found dead in a cave, about six miles from where she was last seen. An autopsy determined she was suffocated and officials believe her death is a "criminal act," CBS reports.
Eaton was a molecular biologist at the Max Planck Institute in Germany. She grew up in Armonk and graduated from Byram Hills High School in 1977
The molecular biologist leaves behind two sons and her husband, British scientist Dr. Tony Hyman.
