A man was seriously injured when he was hit by a car while walking on Route 9 in Dutchess County near a college.

On Thursday around 11 P.M., the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office investigated reports of a car-pedestrian crash on Route 9 in the Town of Hyde Park near the Culinary Institute of America. Upon arrival police say they discovered a crash, involving a man and a car, with potentially serious injuries.

A preliminary police investigation determined that 22-year-old Anthony Jennings was walking on Route 9 near the Culinary Institute when he was struck by a vehicle. Jennings was taking to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital for treatment.

The 22-year-old was injured, but authorities did not release his condition. At this time, no charges have been filed.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit. More information will be released as it becomes available
