A Bronx man with a criminal past in the Hudson Valley was arrested after a chase with police on Interstate 84.

On Tuesday, New York State Police from Brewster arrested 26-year-old Earl J. Allen of Bronx for three counts of possession of a forged instrument, tampering with evidence, felonies, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, misdemeanors and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Around 2:10 a.m., troopers pulled over a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Interstate 84 in the town of Southeast.

While interviewing the driver, Allen, a strong odor of marijuana was detected, police say.

Allen is accused of possessing 4.2 grams of marijuana and a fake driver’s licenses.

Allen fled on foot on Interstate 84 while throwing credit cards and personal checks, police say. He was placed into custody without further incident a short distance from the vehicle.

Allen was arraigned before the town of Southeast Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

In Nov. Allen was arrested on I-84 in Putnam County for allegedly possessing a stolen car.
