Lauren Alaina Celebrates First No. 1 Song With ‘Road Less Traveled’
Lauren Alaina is celebrating her first No. 1 single, and she's doing so (or at least attempting to) with horns and confetti! Click play above to watch an adorable Instagram video of Alaina celebrating her first chart-topping song, "Road Less Traveled."
Written by Alaina, pop sensation Meghan Trainor and songwriter-producer Jesse Frasure, "Road Less Traveled" shares an essential and empowering message of self-acceptance in the face of public critique, a challenge that Alaina is all too familiar with.In 2016, the young singer revealed that she's struggled with an eating disorder; in many ways, it is the vulnerability and openness that Alaina brings to "Road Less Traveled" that has played a huge part in its reliability and ultimate success.
“I cannot believe I have the No. 1 song in the country,” Alaina says in an official press release. “I have dreamed of this day my entire life. The five singles, the ups and downs, the tears, the smiles, and the six years of hard work have made this moment so much sweeter.
"I am so thankful to everyone who helped me get to this point," Alaina adds. "Regardless of my future, I get to live the rest of my life saying I have written a No. 1 song. Life made."
"Road Less Traveled" was released in July of 2016; Alaina shared the powerful anthem's music video in October, taking the opportunity to sing the inspirational lyrics to younger versions of herself and inspiring millions of girls to take their own paths as well. The song is even the basis for a made-for-TV movie, titled Road Less Traveled; Alaina will make her acting debut in the flick, which is scheduled to be released later this year.
"Road Less Traveled" is the title track of Alaina's sophomore album. She recently wrapped up the CMT Next Women of Country Tour with Martina McBride, but she's not getting too much of a break from touring: This summer, the "Pretty" singer will join Luke Bryan as a special guest on select dates of his Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day Tour.
