Large Reward Offered After Video of Cat Murder Circulates

A large reward is being offered after a "disturbing" video of a cat being tortured and killed circulated throughout a Hudson Valley school.

The New York State Humane Association, based in Kingston, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for torturing and killing a cat and videotaping the crime.

The video circulated among South Middle School students in Newburgh on Wednesday, May 15. The video wasn't filmed on school grounds, but contained contents that school officials said were "disturbing" and "upsetting to many students.

"It is a known fact that there is a strong correlation between animal abuse and human violence, and in fact, animal abuse is considered a predictor of future human violence. The individuals who committed this horrific crime and videotaped it must be brought to justice," the New York State Humane Association said in a press release.
