Kane Brown added a dose of wit and sarcasm to his set in Columbia, S.C., on Friday (Jan. 25), with his cover of the All-American Rejects' "Gives You Hell."

The song's opening notes were enough to excite the crowd, sending a wave of applause and cheers through the packed arena as they instantly sang along to the first few lines. Brown's voice sounds natural on the pop-rock song, and he used the performance as a chance to interact with the audience, whether taking a selfie on a fan's camera or asking the audience to take on the chorus solo.

"When you see my face / Hope it gives you hell / Hope it gives you hell / When you walk my way / Hope it gives you hell," the crowd sings back at Brown's request.

"Gives You Hell" is one of the All-American Rejects' most recognizable singles, having appeared on several charts and reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Adult Top 40 and Mainstream Top 40 charts.

The song is part of a mashup of covers Brown has included in his show, alongside the classic "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King, Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," Kriss Kross' signature hit "Jump" and a track by EDM DJ Marshmello titled "Happier." Brown is set to release a collaboration with Marshmello sometime this year.

The "Lose It" hitmaker began his headlining Live Forever Tour on Jan. 10 in his home state of Georgia; the tour concludes on March 8. Brown has a busy year ahead. Soon after his tour wraps up, he'll join Jason Aldean's Ride All Night Tour beginning in April, and he's also set to perform at the RodeoHouston on March 9.
