
New Windsor K-9 Unit Helps With Narcotics & Firearms Bust
Following a long-term investigation in Orange County, an arrest was made on Thursday, March 13th, with felony charges pending for a significant amount of drugs and paraphernalia, as well as several weapons.

Search Warrant Execution in New Windsor
The New Windsor Police Department, in a press release on Friday, March 14th, shared the news of a successful search warrant and subsequent arrest in New Windsor the day prior.
Together with the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, New York State Police, City of Newburgh Police Department, the United State Postal Inspection Service, the Town of New Windsor Police Department executed a judicially authorized search warrant. The residence, located on Stonecrest Drive in the Town of New Windsor, was reportedly the focus of a long term investigation.
Authorities indicated the investigation was for illegal possession and distribution of narcotics by a person who lived at the residence on Stonecrest Drive.

K-9 Unit Assists With Search
Two canines affiliated with the Town of New Windsor Police Department, K-9 Duke, along with Officer Bell, and K-9 Marty with Officer Levy, 'positively indicated for the presence of narcotics and firearms.'
Police seized a number of items including 400 grams of powdered cocaine, scales, three AR-15 style assault rifles, along with multiple magazines and assorted ammunition. A total of $3,900 was also found at the residence.
40-year-old Lazarus Rodriguez, of New Windsor, was arrested following the execution of the search warrant, and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, which is a Class A-1 Felony. Rodriguez was then held, pending arraignment.
Following the arrest, New Windsor Police Chief Daniel Valeri emphasized that the department will continue to work 'tirelessly' to protect their residents.
